Job Description:
Our Ottawa based government client is seeking a Application/Software Architect for a long term contract. (3 yrs with 2 optional 1 yr periods).
All candidates must possess Enhanced Reliability security clearance.
Please nopte: Application/Software Architect resources must be able to prepare documentation, attend and contribute to meetings and provide training in both official languages.

Responsibilities include:
1. Designing, documenting, developing, testing, delivering, and managing Business Intelligence solution and architecture in Oracle environment;
2. Conducting analysis and recommending appropriate Business Intelligence solution and architecture;
3. Gathering business requirement, conducting analysis, designing, documenting and developing, multidimensional cube, report and dashboard using Oracle Express/OLAP services;
4. Producing architectural documents and specifications;
5. Producing detailed design specifications and calculations, flow charts, diagrams, layouts, coding and operating instruction and tests instruction;
6. Determining scope and level of effort for development of new systems or major changes such as the new computing platform;
7. Designing and directing implementation of security requirement for BI systems and Data warehouse;
8. Designing, documenting and implementing robust development, Quality Assurance and production environment;
9. Evaluating performance of an operating environment and providing recommendation;
10. Recommending and documenting standards and best practices for development lifecycle;
11. Analyzing and assessing of kit deployment requirements;
12. Reviewing post implementation of change effectiveness;
13. Building documentation (user guides) and providing training on the use of developed systems. Training location, equipment and documentation to be provided by CSC;
14. Ensuring knowledge transfer to CSC developers;
15. Conducting analysis, monitoring industry trends and best practices. Recommending / selecting Business Intelligence technology and strategy;
16. Designing, long-term, reliable and adaptive technical architecture;
17. Monitoring systems, diagnosing, documenting and resolving problems; analyzing data to improve performance;
18. Conducting reverse engineering and system migration.

The ideal candidate will have::
  • a minimum of 10 years experience developing, implementing and maintaining Business Intelligence solutions using Oracle BI tools and underlying technologies in the context of a Data Warehouse environment.
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience developing scripts using SQL and PL/SQL.
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience developing Oracle stored packages/procedures
  • a minimum of 5 years development experience with multi-dimensional OLAP concepts including defining and implementing dimensions Hierarchies, Relations and Cubes in a Data warehouse environment
  • a minimum of 5 years of hands-on development experience with each of the following tools/technologies: Oracle Express Server, Analyzer and Object 6.3.4 or higher
  • a minimum of 2 years hands on developing experience with both Oracle OLAP option and Oracle Discoverer (Viewer/Plus, 10g admin, 10g Client).
  • experience developing in Java and Object-oriented programming
  • experience in Oracle Express Server product installation and configuration including applying patches and performing upgrades
  • development experience with Oracle Express Server 6.3.4 using HTML and Oracle Express Web Agent HTML extensions as well as experience with Oracle Express Analyzer and Objects 6.3.4
  • experience in performing Oracle Express database and Discoverer reports optimization and tuning
